Want to spend part of your Labor Day weekend doing something joyful, meaningful, and a little different?
The Denver–Axum Sister Cities Committee is looking for two volunteers to help with food service at Ashenda.
Volunteers will help cook hot dogs and work the food line—including the very important job of helping our youngest guests get just the right amount of ketchup and mustard! Volunteers assisting with cooking must be 18 or older, but ketchup and mustard have no age limit.
What is Ashenda?
Ashenda is a vibrant Tigrayan celebration honoring girls and women, freedom, joy, culture, and community. Filled with music, dancing, colorful traditional dress, food, and celebration, it is a wonderful opportunity to experience Tigrayan culture right here in Denver.
You don’t need any previous experience or connection to the Axum Committee—just a willingness to lend a hand, meet some wonderful people, and be part of a very special celebration.
Come help us serve lunch—and experience Ashenda from the inside!
Ashenda 2026 is Monday, September 7, 2026 (Labor Day) from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at City of Axum Park, 3200 N Birch St, Denver, Colorado.
