Denver Sister Cities International is buzzing with meaningful moments and exciting opportunities that continue to bring our mission to life: fostering peace through people-to-people diplomacy. From inspiring student engagement to cultural celebrations, leadership updates, and global programs, we are proud to share highlights that reflect the strength of our international community.

Inspiring the Next Generation: Ulaanbaatar Committee Reception

The Denver–Ulaanbaatar Sister City Committee recently hosted a special reception welcoming DeFacto Jargalsaikhan, creating a powerful space for dialogue, cultural exchange, and connection. Among the guests were several University of Colorado Boulder business students, whose reflections afterward captured the true impact of the evening.

In their follow-up messages, the students shared how meaningful it was to hear Jargal speak, to learn about Mongolian culture firsthand, and to connect with individuals actively building international relationships. They expressed excitement about attending the upcoming Mongolian festival in May and interest in becoming more involved through research and future opportunities connected to Mongolia.

These moments remind us why sister city work matters. By opening our homes and sharing stories, we inspire curiosity, engagement, and a lasting commitment to global citizenship.

Axum Committee Update: Medical Supplies Project Advancing

The Denver–Axum Sister City Committee is pleased to share an encouraging update on our medical supplies project supporting Axum, Ethiopia. The initiative is moving forward and entering its next phase, bringing us closer to delivering much-needed equipment and supplies to local medical professionals.

In collaboration with Project C.U.R.E., the project will soon be assigned to a warehouse—ideally in Denver—where equipment and supplies will be prepared in consultation with doctors in Axum to ensure the shipment meets on-the-ground needs.

This effort reflects the power of long-standing partnerships and people-to-people diplomacy in action. We are grateful to the many supporters, volunteers, and partners who have helped advance this important work and look forward to sharing continued updates as the project progresses.
